Ask Your Case Files a Question, and See the Passages Behind the Answer

A large case can hold hundreds of documents. Anvexer lets an investigator ask a plain-language question across all of them and see the passages the answer is drawn from.

A complex case builds up paper quickly. Statements, reports, bank records, company filings, court orders, scanned seizure documents. Somewhere in that pile is the answer to the question the investigator has right now: when did the subject first meet this person? Which accounts received money from that company? Who else was at that address?

Keyword search helps only if you already know the words used. A witness may say "his brother-in-law" where the FIR says a name. A bank record lists an account number, not a person.

Ask in plain language

Anvexer's Ask screen takes a question written the way an investigator would say it, such as "Who received payments from Shree Logistics in 2024?", and searches every document in the case for passages that answer it. It searches by meaning as well as by keyword, so a passage can be found even when it uses different words from the question.

Two ways to see the result

Passages. The investigator sees the passages that best match the question, ranked, each with a link to its source document. This is the way to check the evidence directly.

Answer. Anvexer writes a short answer drawn from the case documents. This is the quick way to get the gist, before going to the passages to check it.

We recommend reading the answer and then checking the passages. The answer helps you find your way; the passages are the evidence.

Everything in the case, in one place

The Ask screen searches across everything in the case: documents the team uploaded and web pages Anvexer read during research. Scanned documents are converted to text when they are uploaded, so a scanned statement can be searched in the same way as a typed one.

Only this case

Questions are asked of one case at a time, and only people with access to the case can ask them. Nothing from one case appears in another case's answers.

Frequently asked questions

Does the answer make up information that is not in the documents?

The answer is written from the passages found in the case documents. As with any AI-written text, it should be checked against the passages, which is why they are shown separately with links to their sources.

Can it search scanned documents?

Yes. Scanned documents are converted to text when they are added to the case and can then be searched.

Does asking a question send case documents to the internet?

Not in an offline installation, where everything runs on the agency's own machine. In an online installation, how questions are answered depends on the AI model the installation is configured to use. Your deployment team can confirm this for your setup.
